All About Guaiacwood
The Gran Chaco Forest in Paraguay
As the second largest forest in Latin America and among the most rapidly deforested areas in the world.
Currently, more than 1,000 kilograms of Guaiacwood essential oil is produced and exported from El Chaco each year, primarily for the fragrance and perfume industries.
Although Paraguay has officially established regulations and policies to protect El Chaco from deforestation, enforcement is lacking.
dōTERRA carefully chose a Guaiacwood sourcing partner who was committed to protecting El Chaco. Our partner is currently the only company in the area that has received the highest levels of certification from the Union for Ethical Biotrade (UEBT).
Our partner has spent many years developing a first-of-its-kind ethical and sustainable Guaiacwood sourcing operation, and we are eager to support their efforts.
